Yankit Wong is a Hong Kong-born bass singer, vocal coach, collaborative pianist and piano teacher based in Augsburg. His principal artistic interests lie in opera and German Lied. As both a singer and pianist, he brings together musical expressiveness, a refined sensitivity to language and style, and a deep understanding of the close artistic partnership between voice and piano.

His musical education began at an early age with piano lessons. After studying at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, he continued his artistic development in Germany from 2016 onwards. At the Lübeck University of Music, he studied voice and music theatre with Prof. Franz-Josef Einhaus and successfully completed his Bachelor of Music degree.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Voice at the Leopold Mozart College of Music at the University of Augsburg. There, he initially worked as a répétiteur and vocal coach in the voice class of the former Head of the Institute, Prof. Dominik Wortig, before being admitted to Wortig’s master class. Following Prof. Wortig’s unexpected death, he continued his studies with Kammersängerin Sally du Randt.

Alongside his work as a singer, he has been active for many years as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist. Vocal coaching forms a particular focus of his work. He regularly works with singers in lessons, rehearsals and concerts, and also collaborates with instrumentalists in chamber music and concert projects.

From 2018 to 2021, he worked as a pianist in the field of music theatre at the Lübeck University of Music. As a complement to his vocal training, he received private piano tuition from Prof. Florian Uhlig in 2022 and 2023, further developing his playing and deepening his pianistic skills, particularly in Lied, chamber music and musical collaboration. In addition to his artistic work, he has several years of experience teaching private piano and voice students.

His stage experience includes performances as the Commendatore and Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, as well as Sarastro in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, alongside further opera and concert productions. His artistic work brings together singing, vocal coaching, collaborative piano and teaching, and is characterised by musical precision, stylistic sensitivity and a relationship of trust with singers and instrumentalists.

At the heart of his artistic work lies the search for an authentic and natural form of musical expression. Whether on stage, in the concert hall, in the teaching studio or at the piano, he understands music as a living dialogue between people, cultures and musical traditions. This understanding shapes his work equally as a singer, vocal coach, collaborative pianist and teacher.
